california rafting

Whitewater rafting at Marble Mountain Ranch offers beginner rafting on the Klamath River, intermediate whitewater rafting on the Klamath and Trinity Rivers, and advanced whitewater rafting on the California Salmon River.

Our central location allows you to choose from 10 different "mild to wild" rafting trips all within a half hour shuttle from the ranch. As local outfitters, we know the Klamath, Trinity, and Salmon Rivers intimately and can guide you to a safe and enjoyable rafting trip. Klamath river rafting and kayaking is included in the fare for all of our guest ranch participants. and the rates quoted below are based on stand-alone rafting adventures not part of our guest ranch program.

Rafting in paddle-rafts, oar powered rafts or even inflatable kayaks is an option that does not affect the price of your trip, but does affect the level of participation. Kayaks allow the greatest level of participation, and the oar powered rafts allow you to simply enjoy the ride without requirement to paddle.

MAIN KLAMATH
DIFFICULTY: Class II-III, SEASON: April - October
TRIP LENGTH: 1/2 day to 5 day itineraries with private cabin guest ranch lodging or wilderness camping. RATE: 1/2 day - $75, 1 day with lunch - $95, two day wilderness trip - $299, less 10% for youth 14 and under. Rafting on this river is already included in the fare for our guest ranch package participants.

Flowing gently through the land of Big Foot in the Siskiyou Mountains, the Klamath is the perfect river for families and groups to enjoy while relaxing and appeasing the soul. Otter, beaver, osprey, eagles and a myriad other creatures rarely seen in the wild (yes, sometimes even BIG FOOT!) can show you their secrets here. The curious will also discover sparkling side creeks with hidden swimming holes, waterfalls, deep pools housing trophy gamefish, secluded sunlit beaches, and maybe even an overlooked golden nugget. Our signature trip on the Klamath is our "Saddle Paddle" combo, combining rafting and trail rides in a guest ranch vacation. The Klamath Saddle Paddle is exclusive to Marble Mountain Ranch and is available in 2 - 7 day adventures.

CALIFORNIA SALMON
DIFFICULTY: class IV-V advanced, SEASON: April-June, TRIP LENGTH: 1-4 days,
Trip Rates for Spring - lodging/meals/rafting packages: 2- day 2-night: $459, 3- day 3-night: $669, 4- day 4-night: $869

The water of the Wild and Scenic California Salmon is crystal clear, accenting the colors of the marble and granite it flows over. The side creeks often tumble down steep canyon walls next to lush vegetation clinging to the vertical faces. This Eden-like setting is the home of some of California's finest whitewater. The runs are long and extremely fast, causing white-knuckled paddlers to experience a sense of continuous acceleration. Our multi-day trip on the Salmon includes cabin lodging at Marble Mountain Ranch, all meals and free wetsuit rental.

We are proud to jointly outfit this and the Scott River locations with our friends at Momentum Rivers by combining class-V Momentum river staff and our logistical base at the ranch with deluxe accommodations. This is the best Class IV-V dollar value, and most comfortable Spring rafting package you will find anywhere!

SCOTT RIVER
DIFFICULTY: class IV-V, SEASON: April-June
TRIP LENGTH: 15-18 miles in 1-4 day itineraries and in combinations with the Cal Salmon at the same daily rates.

The Scott River offers nearly continuous class IV and V rapids that are often a bit more "technical" than it's bigger water sister, the Salmon. Be prepared for cross river quick moves in front of steep drops, catapulting you into river-wide reversals. The scenery is excellent, when you can afford the luxury of diminished attention to the rapids! We suggest a Salmon and Scott combo for an unbeatable whitewater weekend. The best bet for catching this river is to book early May. and be prepared for alternate itineraries since the smaller drainage makes this run a bit more volatile in catching the right water levels.

GUIDE SCHOOL

Would you like to learn how to guide white water rivers by raft, drift boat and kayak? Think of all the fame, peer recognition, and economic opportunity! Come join us for our annual Spring Guide School. It is a 6 day course designed to bring to a class III competency that would allow you to boat privately or commercially with a foundation to build on for advanced class IV and V rivers. The 2009 cost is $650 and covers all lodging and meals, instructional material, and daily time on the river. Enjoy this preview of our white water guide school text.
